A major European OEM required a new luggage system to be developed for one of their sports bikes. A crucial aspect of the work was that the system must not compromise the performance or stability of the bike. Ricardo took responsibility for the load case definition of the motorcycle sub-frame, and design and development of the luggage system to comply with OEM performance and stability criteria.
During this work, Ricardo developed a novel mounting and stability system for the luggage, which effectively de-coupled them from the main chassis, and hence minimized their influence on vehicle stability. This system was then productionized by the OEM.
